There are eight English football league teams who play with vertical red-and-white stripes and three of them have unveiled their shiny new 2017-18 Adidas kits in the last week or so. But which is best?
Sunderland
The Black Cats launched their new kit with local non-league side Dawdon Welfare Park donning it for a live Facebook reveal.

350,000 eager Sunderland fans tuned in to see what the 2017-18 Adidas outfit would look like last Sunday... and it's fair to say there was an audible groan heard across the red-and-white portion of the North East.
Unflattering comparisons with a deck chair and a butcher's apron followed, whilst most could hardly believe the fully red back panel contrasting horribly with striped sleeves had been signed off by the club hierarchy.

It might grow on the doubters and a promotion campaign whilst wearing it may yet render the 17/18 strip an odd cult classic.
With thin stripes, the kit claims to herald a nod towards the early days of Sunderland AFC with adult versions naturally carrying the logo of the club's online betting sponsor.

Brentford
The Bees unveiled their 2017/18 kits just this week after previously fearing they might suffer a similar fate to Sunderland. In the end, Brentford opted for a classic bold stripe affair.

And the Greater London club stole something of an edge in their launch photos by possessing a player with lovely hair to model it.

With an updated badge and new gaming company sponsors, the home top sports Adidas stripes on the shoulders and black trim to the collar and sleeves. Brentford's top is a white on red affair and is pretty smart.
Sheffield United
Newly promoted to the Championship, the Blades have gone all moody in their launch photos.

But Sheffield United's kit is pretty neat. Sporting bold red-and-white stripes which are highlighted with a black border and black sleeves completing the shirt, a retro sponsor is thrown in for good measure.

Perhaps best of all, the Sheff Utd home shirt has a nice stripey back.
