Jordan Pickford - 5

Paid for being indecisive for the James Collins goal. Had few saves to make outside of the West Ham goals.

Billy Jones - 5

Hopefully ok, after being stretchered off. Had given a typical Jones performance up until that point full off energy but lacking in quality at both ends.

John O'Shea - 6

Fairly solid outside of a few dodgy clearances.

Jason Denayer - 6

Perhaps Sunderland's best centre half, he was naive giving away a needless free kick, that ultimately lead to West Ham second however.

Javier Manquillo - 5

Looked uncomfortable playing out of position, unable to contribute going forward, ok defensively.

Darron Gibson - 5

Switched of carelessly to let Andre Ayew score, struggled to contain West Ham's most creative players. His passing improved as the game went on.

Lee Cattermole - 5

Tried provide his usual energy and leadership, especially in the first half. Way short of his best level and perhaps lucky to avoid being sent off.

Didier Ndong - 5

Quiet for large portions of the game, squandered the best Sunderland chance all game, not good enough today.

Wahbi Khazri - 8

Excellent in his return. Ended our embarrassing goal drought, created for others and added a spark that's been absent in recent months.

Victor Anichebe - 5

Looked low on energy and fitness today. Still capable when given the right service, hopefully finding his feet after injury.

Jermain Defoe - 6

Did a better job than usual facilitating for his teammates, although was a spectator for large portions of the game when the visitors dominated possession.

Substitutes

Adnan Januzaj - 5

Unable to make an impact in limited minutes, during the game's crazy finale.

Fabio Borini - 6

A rare Borini highlight from the Italian who's endured a horrible season - hopefully being dropped has re-motivated Fabio.

Lamine Kone - 5

Brought on late, tried be a nuisance, unfortunately he was unable to trouble the Hammer's back four.
