Progress & Week #31 Table

Chris Sparks delved deep into his overdraft this week in order to get himself out of the red, and it came off - his treble of Manchester City, Spurs and Arsenal all to win in the FA Cup takes him off the foot of our table and into fourth place.

Gav backed Arsenal to beat Lincoln 5-0, and they did, so he extends his lead at the top of our tipster table further.

This Week's Bonus Prize...

If Sunderland beat Burnley this weekend the banker has offered to refund all losing bets. Haway the lads!

Gav - @Gav1879

I'm keeping it nice and simple this week since I can afford to.

Sunderland are going to win. I have faith. £10 on that.

Elsewhere I'm going for a treble of wins for Brighton, Forest Green and Newcastle.

Sunderland to win - £10 - 6/4

Brighton, Forest Green + Newcastle all to win - £10 - Returns £63.56

Jermain Defoe will be relishing our game against Burnley with even more gusto after his England call up. That's drawn my eye to Dafabet's price boost of 7/1 for him to score two goals or more. We need to beat Burnley and let's face it, Defoe is pretty much all we have going forward at the minute, so I'll stick a fiver on this. If he repays my faith, I'll be repaid £40 including stake.

I'm taking a trip to the German second tier for my second punt. Bundesliga 2 has been the basis of a few accas of mine lately because I quite like the similarities to The Championship. There's quite a few big clubs down there and even though it's unpredictable, I'm still going to attempt to predict three results. Stuttgart should overcome mid-table Greuther Furth, while third placed Hannover 96 will be expected to beat relegation threatened St. Pauli. A fourth versus sixth clash between Eintracht Braunschweig and FC Heidenheim could go either way but the hosts are a good price at Evens. £5 on this Deutschland treble has a potential overall return of £52.50.

Jermain Defoe to score 2 or more goals - £5 - Returns £40

Stuttgart, Eintracht Braunschweig + Hannover 96 to win - £5 - Returns £52.50

I was already planning on backing England’s Jermain Defoe to score a hat-trick against Burnley on Saturday, for no other reason than I love the bloke. It probably won't happen but Dafabet’s price boost of 7/1 for Defoe to score two or more this weekend made me go for it.

Once upon a time I loved this Roker Riches series. Now it fills me with dread. It means I've got to waste more money on accas that will never come in. This week’s acca is a nine team exercise in stupidity. I’m counting on wins for: Sunderland, Everton, Mags, Dortmund, Zenit, Sheff Utd, Hibs, Barcelona, and Roma.

Jermain Defoe to score two or more - £5 - Returns £40

Nine team accumulator - £3 - Returns £173.25

You'll notice a theme developing here, as I too am going for Dafabet's price boosted 7/1 for Jermain Defoe to score two or more goals. He's just been called up by England so you'd expect him to impress and we absolutely need him to in what is such a vital game for us.

Middlesbrough sacked Aitor Karanka yesterday and appointed ex-Sunderland midfielder Steve Agnew as caretaker manager. Boro couldn't score under Karanka but they had only conceded 30 goals this season, which only four teams in the Premier League can better. With Karanka gone the players may be let off the leash a bit but with Manchester United up next, I am going for Boro to be out of sorts defensively and the visitors to win comfortably.

Jermain Defoe to score two or more - £10 - Returns £80

Man Utd to win 3-0 - £10 - Returns £120

My Sunderland bet this week is for Burnley to get their first away win of the season at the Stadium of Light. If they do, it will all but condemn us to Championship football next season, so I need the pick up of a winning bet to get by. A £5 stake will see me return £15.

My Acca this week will be for wins for Sheffield United, Bristol Rovers, Bradford, Bolton and Rangers. £10 will give me a £80.95 return.

Burnley to win v SAFC - £5 - Returns £15

Five-team accumulator - £10 - Returns £80.95

Chris Sparks - @ChrisSavedLatin

Not only am I out of my overdraft, I’m also in profit! To celebrate I’m going to win again this weekend.

I’m backing Sunderland at half-time/full-time against Burnley, with the Black Cats overdue a good performance. Elsewhere, I’m backing seven favourites across Europe in a seven-fold acca.

Sunderland to be winning at half-time & full-time - 15/4 - £10 returns £47.50

Man Utd, Chelsea, Newcastle, Celtic, Barca, Real Madrid & Bayern Munich - £10 returns £156
