Fan Letters: “Please Please Please Mr Short, sell our club!”

“Since Niall Quinn left the club we have had no one at boardroom level who has had any modicum of football sense or empathy with either the club or our great fan base”, says Roker Report reader Chris Watson.

Dear Roker Report,

I am saddened to write about the demise of our proud football club under the tenure of Mr Ellis Short. The club has been in rapid decline since the departure of Niall Quinn and I know some would say it was Quinn who persuaded Ellis Short to take control of the club, but never the less since Niall left the club we have had no one at boardroom level who has had any modicum of football sense or empathy with either the club or our great fan base.

Ellis Short’s mismanagement of our great club has been well documented over the years and months, and he has handed over the running of the club to Bain. I’m sure I read that Grayson lost his last 8 games in charge of Preston - if so, his record stands as winning 1 game in his last 21 Championship games? How on earth is he still in charge of a club like Sunderland?!

Yes, as he states, no club has a given right not to get relegated (David Moyes-esque) but Mr Grayson, we get the same dribble out of your mouth week in, week out and then nothing changes week in, week out on the pitch.

We have the same players either making the same mistakes or not giving a toss about winning a football match for our great club. Your lack of tactics and mysterious substitutions and tinkering, I am sad to say, surely will take us down again. Jason Steele is a case in point.

The debacle of the failed summer take over was just another insult to our proud fans, with Mr Short claiming it wasn’t right for the club or supporters. What he really means is that it wasn’t right for him. I would like to know what our actual debt is now, given our pre-season transfer business - or lack of it.

I look on in despair at the news a wealthy consortium have bought out Wigan - with all due respect, Wigan?! - and the news of the takeover up the road. If Mr Short is allegedly willing to sell off our Club for £57 Million, I can’t quite understand why all these super rich consortiums who are wanting to purchase a sleeping giant are not queuing up to buy our great club. Is the talk of wanting to sell the club just Mr Short’s spin created in order to appease our great supporters?

Please, Please Please Mr Short - sell our club so we can once again move forward.

Dear Roker Report,

We need a manager who's not a c*nt, players who aren't c*nts, an owner who's not a c*nt, a captain who's not a c*nt, and a vice captain who's not a c*nt!

That's my take on things, thanks.

Dear Roker Report,

I've been a supporter for over 50 years and I’ve seen some rubbish, but the problem this time is Ellis Short.

He has no feelings for our club, or loyalty. He seems happy to see us rot, as long as he can get as much money back - surely he knew the commitment required when he bought the club, and he's still a very rich man. He wasn't bothered about Grayson’s ability.

It's frustrating watching on at the reported interest in Newcastle while we have a superior stadium and facilities - have some pride and respect, Mr short, and sell the club.
