Vito Mannone - 6
Made a very good save from Sam Vokes in the first half but his kicking remains to be awful. Kept punting it long under no pressure, putting it into areas where there were often no Sunderland players. Didn't have a great deal to do other than that initial save from Vokes, in fairness.
Patrick van Aanholt - 6
Didn't do a great deal but did try his best to create when in the attacking third - he just didn't have much to hit. Still, he did alright and continues to be one of our better players going forward.
Papy Djilobodji - 5
Was all over the place today and if it wasn't for his partner he'd have cost us a number of times as he kept allowing Andre Gray to slip in behind him. He's had better days.
Jason Denayer - 8 (Gav's Man Of The Match)
He was the only player in a Sunderland shirt that stood out as having real quality. Arguably his best performance in a red and white shirt - he was doing the job of two or three players at times when the rest of the defence went wandering. He's deceptively quick and reads the game well.
Javier Manquillo - 5
Pretty awful, to be fair. Spurned Sunderland's best chance of the game when played in behind by Borini, completely overhitting what was an easy ball to Defoe who was waiting to tap it in. He won't have given David Moyes much to think about on the back of that showing.
Donald Love - 7
He was very good and it was a surprise to see him playing in the middle of the park. Swept up well and has a very competent range of passing. I wouldn't be against him playing there against Stoke next weekend.
Jack Rodwell - 7
Rodwell was one of our better players in the first half but he understandably tired in the second and it was important that he completed a full ninety minutes unscathed. Came very close with a number of long range strikes and was unlucky not to score.
Sebastian Larsson - 4
Huffed and puffed alot but he was wasteful in possession. His set pieces are incredibly dire and he really needs to hand off that responsibility to somebody more capable, because every corner we get seems like a massive waste of time.
Fabio Borini - 4
Played just like Larsson did - ran alot, but did not very much with it bar the one pass which should have seen Sunderland create a goalscoring chance when he slipped Manquillo in behind the Burnley left back. Seemed in a right strop today and threw his hands up alot instead of encouraging his team mates.
Adnan Januzaj - 6
Didn't have the worst game but he had very little to work with. He thrives more when players get around him and give him something to hit.
Jermain Defoe - 6
Held the ball up well but didn't really have many chances and had to deal with Sunderland's goalkeeper and defenders humping it long to him, much of which was eaten up with ease by the Burnley defenders.
John O'Shea (Substitute) - 6
Came on at a time when Burnley were starting to put us under pressure and gave us a calming presence.
