Sunderland came from behind twice this afternoon to draw with Liverpool - here's how the player's rated. Vote for your man of the match in the poll below the article!

Vito Mannone - 7

Back to his best after the Burnley embarrassment. His save from Sturridge one on one in particular was crucial. Also relieved pressure claiming some late crosses, excellent performance.

Donald Love - 5

Still looks unconvincing at this level, choose to cross from bad areas wasting crucial Sunderland possession, especially in the first half.

John O'Shea - 6

Much more assured after his woeful Turf Moor display. Kept things simple in a mistake free solid performance.

Papy Djilobodji - 5

Guilty of committing bad fouls and trying to hard, improved from his positional nightmare at Burnley. Also should have done better at the near post for Liverpool's second goal

Patrick Van Aanholt - 7

Provided a spark as usual from left back, handled the challenge of marking Mane well for most of the game.

Didier Ndong - 6

Made some good tackles, switched off for Daniel Sturridge's goal. His passing in transition remains a glaring weakness, one he may not be capable of amending.

Jack Rodwell - 7

Impressive return to the starting line up offered an improvement in ball retention in midfield and made some crucial blocks when defending the Black Cat's goal.

Sebastian Larsson - 6

Defensively tireless as usual, even if he gives away too many fouls, provided little quality at the attacking end.

Fabio Borini - 6

A fine defensive performance, but the Italian is surely in danger of being benched for games that Sunderland need to win, for the second time since his return he squandered a great opportunity under little pressure. Must do better.

Adnan Januzaj - 7

Offered penetration and the attacking quality Sunderland sorely need. Bizarrely substituted when we needed a goal.

Jermain Defoe - 8 (James' MOTM)

Once again his quality and unflappable ability in front of goal saved Sunderland, excellent composure from an excellent striker.

Javier Manquillo - 5

Brought on in a weird reshuffle by David Moyes at 1-1 - was merely a peripheral figure in the chaotic finale.

Wahbi Khazri - 5

Once again was restricted to a late cameo when Sunderland were chasing the game. Didn't get long enough to make an impact.
