After a nail-biting win against Chelsea at the weekend Sunderland head into their mid-week game against Everton in a buoyant mood, gradually edging closer to safety.
A win is still very much needed though, and with Norwich also playing tonight will help ensure the final weekend isn’t as excruciating as it could be.
History suggests Sunderland have had the best of recent meetings overall, with three wins and a draw against The Toffees over the course of the last six games.

And its Sunderland that come into the fixture in much better shape, with two wins and three draws in the last six at home, while Everton have lost three times and drawn twice over the same sequence of games away from home.

Over the last ten games Sunderland are in much better form against every measure, with 12 points collected to Everton’s nine. They’ve also scored more, conceded fewer and kept more clean sheets across the period. Attacking and defensive stats are better going into the game and everything points towards a home win.
