Norwich City 0-3 Sunderland: Player Ratings

Sunderland beat Norwich at Carrow Road, here’s how the lads played.

Vito Mannone – 8

Made every save and he commanded his box really well under an onslaught of Norwich corners and even his distribution was good today.

Patrick Van Aanholt – 6

Looked suspect throughout, his best contribution was playing a dummy to let Watmore go through on goal.

DeAndre Yedlin – 7

Good performance from Yedlin, he dealt with the threat of Brady and Olsson all day, and he forced Alex Neill to sub Brady.

Younes Kaboul – 8

Both centre backs outstanding today. They had to deal with countless corners and free kicks and they threw themselves at everything.

Lamine Kone – 8

Terrific display from Kone, he looked like a man mountain out there today, he dealt with everything Norwich threw at him.

Jan Kirchhoff – 8

His first half display wasn’t too good but his second half was right up there with his best of the season. He played more attacking in the second half which allowed him to show his quality.

Lee Cattermole – 9

Simply a leader of men. He made two clearances off the line in the second half and he ran the show all game.

Yann M’Vila – 6

Not the best game from M’Vila, he looked a bit off pace and he was subbed in the second half.

Wahbi Khazri – 6

Plenty of effort in closing down but not much going forward. He got a silly booking in the first half and his enthusiasm may have seen him sent off so he was subbed at half time.

Fabio Borini – 9

Ran all day long, he won the penalty and scored it and he also crossed for Defoe’s goal. Great performance from Borini.

Jermain Defoe – 8

Scored the vitally important second goal and he bullied Bassong all day. He was unlucky not to score more.

Duncan Watmore – 7 (sub)

Came on at half time and his pace played Sunderland out of trouble on numerous occasions and he scored the third goal. His added pace and energy gave Sunderland an edge today.

Seb Larsson – 7 (sub)

Brought on for M’Vila to settle the midfield and that’s exactly what he did. He hounded down the Nowich midfield with his closing down.

John O’Shea – 6 (sub)

Very little time to effect much when he came on, thankfully we didn’t concede.

Man Of The Match – Lee Cattermole
