Jordi Gomez wraps up Sunderland's transfer deadline day business by joining Blackburn Rovers on loan.

Jordi Gomez has become the second player to depart the Stadium of Light today and the seventh of the transfer window after he joined Blackburn Rovers on loan.

Gomez joins Charis Mavrias, Liam Bridcutt, Will Buckley, Sebastian Coates, Steven Fletcher and his new Blackburn team-mate Danny Graham in leaving Sunderland during Sam Allardyce's January clear out of unwanted players.

The Spaniard joined Sunderland on a free transfer from Wigan in the summer of 2014, when he signed a three-year contract with the club. As he has signed a loan deal with the Championship side until the end of the season, he will return to the club in the summer with one year remaining on his deal.

The 30-year-old fell out of favour when Allardyce took over, with only two starts to his name during Big Sam's tenure, in the home game against Southampton and the Boxing Day clash with Manchester City at the Eithad Stadium.
