Jordan Pickford - 6

Did what he had to do rather comfortably throughout the game and had his view blocked for their winner. I feel for him - he's so much better than this season's clean sheet's record would suggest.

Patrick Van Aanholt - 6

Better defensively today but had little influence on the game. Took an awful free kick in the first half that he should have left to Khazri, right on the edge of the box.

Lamine Kone - 7 (Man Of The Match)

Much better today, especially in the second half. Probably his best game since the season opener.

John O'Shea - 7

Also pretty solid, kept Zaza quiet.

Javier Manquillo - 6

Much like Van Aanholt, he was largely quiet. Had Payet to deal with though and I thought he did a decent enough job.

Dider Ndong - 4

Complete liability at times, especially in the first half. Failed to complete most of his tackles and picked up a poor yellow card early on. If we had other options fit I'd be considering taking him out of the team. He doesn't look ready to be playing week in, week out.

Jack Rodwell - 6

Did well in the tackle but had very little influence on the game. Still trying to work out what it is that his job is.

Steven Pienaar - 6

Kept the ball well in the early stages but was prone later on to playing wayward passes. Picked up another knock - clearly, we cannot rely on him to complete games and that is a concern.

Wahbi Khazri - 6

Really should have scored when he was gifted a chance but other than that I thought he pressed the ball well and worked hard. Wasn't really the type of game he will thrive in as most of the time was spent chasing the ball, which isn't his game.

Duncan Watmore - 5

Largely ineffective and was brought off accordingly. He's not a winger - stop playing him there.

Jermain Defoe - 5

Didn't hold up the ball well and barely registered a shot - not entirely his fault that though. He needs support.

Lynden Gooch - 5

Didn't do a great deal bar give away a load of fouls.

Paddy McNair - ?

Literally cannot remember him touching the ball after he came on.

Billy Jones - 4

The ball went through his legs (I think?) for their goal. Gah.
