Costel Pantilimon – 5
Pantilimon made a few decent saves towards the end to keep the score down. However during the periods of Bournemouth dominance he didn’t have a lot to do apart from the goals, the second he could do nothing with.
Patrick Van Aanholt – 5
Van Aanholt continued to get forward today and wasn’t as exposed at the back, but overall the defence was poor again today.
Billy Jones – 5
Much the same as Van Aanholt, Jones did ok but was caught out more as the game got stretched.
Seb Coates – 3
Coates looked as bad as ever on his return to first team action and looks nothing like the player he was at the end of last season.
Younes Kaboul – 1
He gets a 1 for just being there and to be honest we’d have been better off without him. Another shocking and embarrassing performance from Kaboul. From what we’ve seen so far this season he doesn’t deserve to wear the shirt.
Yann M’Vila – 5
Not at his best today but not the worst on the pitch. He really should have taken more control in midfield though.
Ola Toivonen – 4
A bit anonymous today as he didn’t win many flick- ons and didn’t scare the goal himself.
Jordi Gomez – 4
Gomez was slow and didn’t have any impact going forward apart from his speculative free kick in the first half.
Jeremain Lens – 5
Lens thought he got a goal back at the start of the second half but it was incorrectly ruled out for offside. Moments of promise but nothing consistant.
Fabio Borini – 5
Borini put a shift in before being subbed. He volleyed over in the second half but nothing else of real substance.
Jemain Defoe – 4
Defoe wasted another couple of golden chances in the first half which you would expect him to put away.
Jack Rodwell – 5 (sub)
Rodwell did ok but after Kaboul was sent off there was no chance of getting back into the game.
Steven Fletcher– 5 (sub)
Much the same as the other subs, he didn’t do much to change the flow of the game that was always slipping away.
Adam Johnson– 5 (sub)
Came on just before Kaboul was sent off which killed off any chances of Sunderland getting back into the game.
Man Of The Match – Nobody
