Sunderland have completed a deadline day move for Tottenham and USA fullback DeAndre Yedlin. The 22-year old has joined on a season long and spoke of his move on the club website:
"I'm delighted to be given the opportunity to play for a club with such great history. I've heard fantastic things about Sunderland and the supporters from Claudio Reyna and Jozy Altidore. Claudio speaks very highly of Dick Advocaat from his time at Rangers."
Despite the US international making his Premier League debut in April 2015 he has so far failed to make any match day squads for Spurs this season. Having joined Tottenham back in August 2014 he was immediately loaned back to MLS team, Seattle Sounders. However his arrival in North London has been considered as one requiring development and Tottenham now hope that this experience can be found on Wearside.
Despite a lack of games in any of the world's elite leagues Yedlin has found more involvement on the international stage notching up an impressive 23 caps since 2014. In fact the youngster is quickly becoming a key part of Jurgen Klinsman's men. No doubt he's a player hungry to captilise on the loan opportunity in order to cement a place in the national side. The next challenge for Yedlin will be to become a Premier League regular.
Although primarily deployed as right back it's assumed Yedlin will provide us with competition for both fullback positions, which have frankly looked vulnerable this season. Yedlin becomes our 8th and final transfer of the summer window.
