Rotherham (a)
The last time Sunderland and Rotherham met in the third round of the FA cup was back in 1998 when four goals from Kevin Phillips and one from Niall Quinn sent Peter Reid's men through at the Millers' old stomping ground Millmoor. Since those days both clubs have met sparingly, last playing competitively in 2005, with the South Yorkshire side moving grounds to the New York Stadium in 2012.
I've passed the stadium recently when driving and it's truly a stunning venue - despite being built in the middle of what can only be described as industrial scrubland. That said, we don't often get to do an away day in Yorkshire anymore and the chance to take in a game at a ground most Sunderland fans have yet to visit against lower league opposition is appealing - it would be a welcome tie not long after Christmas considering most of us will be skint after the expensive holiday period. Plus, it'd be an opportunity to see Danny Collins (and Greg Halford) again, albeit on the other side.
Middlesbrough (h)
Despite our Teeside neighbours plying their trade in the league below us now for the last six years we've met them on three occasions in cup competitions since, last playing them in 2013. On that day a solitary Scott McDonald goal in the first half saw Tony Mowbray's men progress to the fifth round of the League Cup so, in that sense, we owe them one.
Although there are some Sunderland supporters who don't necessarily view Middlesbrough as a proper local rival, I do, and have fond memories of playing them at the Stadium of Light in recent years. Nothing quite captivates a fan base like a good cup draw and I'd love nothing more than a tie against a side that are enjoying a very successful season so far in the Championship.
Salford City or Hartlepool United (a)
When ball number 62 is drawn out tonight it is sure to be the draw that creates the most intrigue, with Class of 92-owned Salford the lowest ranked team still in the competition. When Salford and Hartlepool met on Friday evening the game ended 1-1, with the Northern Premier League side coming from behind to secure their place in the draw for the 3rd round having already seen off league opposition in Notts County in the last round of games.
With considerable focus on Salford in recent months it would be a decent away draw for our fans and a chance to see the lads play at a totally different ground. That said, should Hartlepool make it through the replay, an away draw against a side local to us always creates extra intrigue and tension. Plus, Victoria Park is one of my favourite grounds in the country and a game there, standing on the terraces, has potential to be a good day out.
Dagenham & Redbridge or Whitehawk
Regardless of who wins this replay, a tie against either side would be welcome. With Dagenham it presents a chance for our fans to see Nyron Nosworthy knock out Cruyff turns on the edge of his own box again, and with Whitehawk its a chance for two teams who have never faced each other to meet for the first time. Decent.
Newcastle United
The opportunity to make it seven in a row? Yes please.
