Ki Pleads For Sunderland Patience

It is coming, apparently. It's always coming, right?

Alex Livesey

It's a matter of time until Gus Poyet's Sunderland team start winning games, according to former midfielder Ki Sung-Yueng.

Ki spent last season on Wearside working under the Uruguayan before returning to the north east to feature in the Swansea City side that sneaked a 0-0 draw at the Stadium of Light, and he has insisted that patience will reap rewards for Sunderland this season. He told reporters:

Sunderland fans need to be patient because it'll all be worth it in the end.

The style has changed under Gus. He's tried to build a passing team and last year it sometimes worked and sometimes didn't.

But it takes time to get right. Sometimes you have to go backwards before going forwards. The players have to be patient - the fans too.

I'd tell Sunderland's players to keep listening to what Gus has to say. Don't forget Swansea have had this style a long time now and it doesn't happen straightaway, it doesn't happen in just one season.

There do appear to be signs that things are slowly coming together, though you also sense that patience ran out at Sunderland about 600 false dawns ago.

Just start winning now please instead, lads. Cheers.
