Back The Lasses As They Close In On Promotion

The lasses win games and score goals and stuff apparently!

Regularly covering the Sunderland Ladies team is not something we really have the resources to do, but it's still something we like to keep in touch with and support as and when we can.

The lasses are enjoying a brilliant season in the FA WSL 2 and find themselves on the brink of promotion. The potentially decisive fixture, against second-placed Doncaster Rovers Belles, has been moved by the club so as to not clash with the Premier League game against Stoke City on the same day, and with season-card holders being offered entry for mere pennies, it would be great to send the Ladies to promotion with a big home following.

For those interested, see below for a little more information from the club, and ha'way the lasses!

Sunderland AFC Ladies can secure promotion to the top tier of women's football next weekend when they face Doncaster Rovers Belles in FA WSL 2.

Table topping Sunderland take on the second placed Belles at the Hetton Centre (Eppleton CW) on Saturday 4 October, with the later kick-off time of 7.30pm, knowing that a win would secure the league title and a place in WSL 1.

Supporters can now attend both of the club's fixtures on the day with the ladies' kick-off having been moved back an hour to avoid a clash with the first team's home Barclays Premier League game against Stoke City at 3.00pm on the same day.

In their maiden WSL season, the unbeaten Wearsiders have won 13 of their 15 matches, scoring 39 goals in the process, while conceding just eleven times.

With three games left of their campaign, they sit eight points clear of Doncaster and if they were to record their sixth consecutive league victory at the weekend their lead would become unassailable.

Tickets for the game at the Hetton Centre are priced at £2 for adult SAFC season card holders and free for U16 season card holders (both on production of their 2014-15 season card).

Tickets for non-season card holders are priced at £4 for adults and £1 for under 18s and over 65s.

Tickets are available from the Hetton Centre on the day of the game or in advance from the Stadium of Light ticket office or via www.safc.com.
