Sunderland bid £2.5m for Will Buckley's services on Sunday night and, speaking after Brighton's 2-0 home win over Cheltenham in the Capital One Cup, Sami Hyypia gave the strongest indication yet that Will Buckley will be leaving the South Coast club in the near future but stopped short of confirming his destination.
Buckley was not involved in Brighton's matchday squad last night and when asked for a reason Hyypia explained;
He wasn't available for selection.
I think you'll hear it [the reason] in a few days.
The Brighton boss was then asked whether a fee had been agreed with Sunderland for the winger but the former Liverpool defender refused to be drawn on the matter;
I would rather talk about this game, this is more important for me than any other thing.
West Bromwich Albion had also been linked with the 24-year-old but it's believed the Baggies are not in the running for Buckley, which should leave the way clear for Gus Poyet to link up once again with a player who flourished under his tutelage during his spell in charge at Brighton, the highlights of which you can see below:
