The tie, which was prematurely announced by the Spanish club a number of weeks ago as taking place at the Stadium of Light, will be a good test for Gus Poyet's men as they move into the final stages of pre-season on Thursday the 7th of August.
The game, a 7.30pm kick off, was announced on SAFC.com this afternoon. The official communication says:
Sunderland AFC will continue their preparations for the upcoming 2014-15 Barclays Premier League campaign with a game against Spanish side Real Betis.
The Black Cats will face the Segunda Division side on Thursday 7th August (KO 7.30pm) at Heritage Park, Bishop Auckland.
Tickets for the game will be priced at £15 for adults and £5 for concessions with purchase details to be confirmed soon. A full list of the pre-season games can be found in the Fixtures & Results section.
Betis, with our very own Alfred N'Diaye in their side, were relegated from the top flight last season and will start the 2014/2015 campaign in the Segunda Division, the 2nd tier in Spanish football.
