Although we can't confirm if it is the case it would seem that Saturday's match against Evo-Stik 1st Division North side Darlington FC will feature the first team squad, managed by head coach Gus Poyet, offering fans a first look at new signings Costel Pantilimon, Billy Jones and Jordi Gomez.

The club sent out the following press release this morning reminding fans that should you wish to attend the game, which is a 3pm kick off at Heritage Park in Bishop Auckland, you will need to purchase your ticket in advance as you will not be able to pay to get in on the day.

Sunderland AFC has advised supporters who wish to attend this weekend’s pre-season fixture against Darlington 1883 FC that there will be no tickets available on the day of the game.

The Black Cats kick-off their preparations for the new Barclays Premier League season when they play the Quakers on Saturday 19 July, 3.00pm at Heritage Park, Bishop Auckland.
