Round-up: Two Linked - Club Confirms Portugal Plans

Sunderland have confirmed the club will be off to Portugal in pre-season, while a striker and midfielder have been linked with a move to the club.

The club have been linked with a move for two new names today, in Luca Cigarini and Luciano Vietto.

Atalanta midfielder Cigarini spoke yesterday about his attraction to English football and today has been linked with three Premier League clubs. According to tuttomercatoweb, Sunderland, Swansea and QPR all have an interest in the 27-year-old

Any potential move for the midfielder will be complicated by the fact he is co-owned by Atalanta and Napoli. His agent has confirmed that there are clubs interested in his services but said Atalanta are in pole position to retain his services.

The Daily Mail have linked Sunderland with a move for Racing Club's young striker Luciano Vietto. The report claims Liverpool, Everton, West Brom and Leicester have held tentative talks but that the player is keen to work with Gus Poyet.

The 20-year-old, unsurprisingly, has a dual Italian passport and has reportedly been given a £7.2m price tag by Racing. Valencia have first option on the striker as part of their deal to sign Racing's Rodrigo De Paul, so any deal would involve beating off competition from the Spanish club.

Finally, Sunderland have officially confirmed the team will be off to Portugalas part of their pre-season preparations. Rumours of a Portugal trip had been rife for some time and after Gus Poyet confirmed those plans earlier in the week, the club have given more details about the impending trip.

The first team will be based in the Algarve, with three games planned between July 28 and August 3. Further details on the games have not yet been released, with the club expected to announce the fixtures in the coming weeks.
