After signing on-loan from Serie A side Fiorentina just before the transfer window opened in January, Marcos Alonso has been a big success in the Sunderland side. Bringing balance to the left hand side of the team and keeping the unpredictable Andrea Dossena out of the side.

Speaking to the Sunderland Echo, Alonso admitted that he is very happy at Sunderland but that he has no choice but to return to Fiorentina at the end of the season;

I'm very happy here at the moment, with the manager, the rest of the team, the staff, everything.

I'm playing, that's the main thing.

But I have two more years in Italy, so I will have to go back at the end of the season. I will have to do that.

What happens in the summer, I don't know. I'm not thinking about that yet.

I'm just enjoying my time here

Although the 23-year-old has impressed so far, the Spaniard says there is more to come from him;

I'm happy with my performances,

Obviously, I want to keep improving and keep playing better and better because I think I'm capable of that.

Gus Poyet will be hoping that improvement comes with Sunderland and with Modibo Diakite currently on loan at Fiorentina, there is the possibility of an end of season swap dealwith the Italian club.
