Massimo Mirabelli will leave his role as scout at Sunderland in the summer to take up the reigns as Chief Scout at Inter Milan.

With Lee Congerton hotly-tipped to take over the Director of Football role at Sunderland after Roberto De Fanti left the club in January, the revamp behind the scenes is set to continue with scout Massimo Mirabelli expected to take over as Inter Milan's Chief Scout when his contract expires in the summer.

Mirabelli joined the club in July last year from Inter Milan when Sunderland's then Chief Scout Valentino Angeloni convinced him to join him at the Stadium of Light, a move which saw him link up with fellow Italian scouts Antonio D'Ottavio, Raphael Papone and Franco Pulin, as well as De Fanti, Angeloni and Paolo Di Canio and his coaching set-up.

After Erick Thohir took a controlling interest in Inter Milan, Inter's Sporting Director Piero Ausilio admitted that he had approached the man he wanted to be the Italian club's new Chief Scout but stopped short of mentioning Mirabelli by name;

Since Thohir decided to invest in this club, I identified an individual responsible for scouting.

It is likely that there will be more changes behind the scenes in the near future as Sunderland revamp their backroom staff once again, with the likely appointment of Congerton triggering moves as the Welshman looks certain to bring in his own men.
