Despite only signing for Sunderland in January from Brazilian side Internacional, Nacho Scocco is already thinking ahead to his next move.
Speaking in to the Argentinian media, Scocco says that after he has fulfilled his dream of playing in the Premier League with Sunderland he would like to return home and retire as a player of Newell's Old Boys;
I recently signed a two-and-a-half year contract with Sunderland, I hope to fulfill my dream of playing in the Premier League and then I will think about my return.
I have no doubt that sooner or later I will return.
The next step in my career will surely be returning to Newell's, I have it clear, I want to retire with that shirt.
Scocco started his career at Newell's then, after spells with Pumas, AEK Athen and Al Ain, returned to the Argentine side where he had great success. While with Newell's he was noted for wearing the number 32 shirt, a number Newell's have promised the 28-year-old will be waiting for him when he eventually returns;
[Francisco Pancho] Aquilano [Newell's kitman] knows to keep the number 32 because sooner or later I will go back, and promised me that shirt will be waiting.
He then explained that although Newell's tried to sign him in January, a move he would have been happy to make, it was never really an option due to Internacional only willing to sell him permanently;
The Board of Directors were attentive to my situation, if they allowed a loan I would have chosen Newell's without hesitation but the board of Inter never gave me that possibility, they wanted to recover the money invested in me.
The striker made his debut for Sunderland in the weekend's FA Cup win over Southampton and although he is happy to be playing again, he says he is still lacking sharpness;
I am experiencing something new, I'm happy because I started playing and now want to get ready physically because I still lack some rhythm.
Although the striker wants to return home eventually, hopefully he can leave with our best wishes having had a great spell at Sunderland. He can start by scoring the winner in the Capital One Cup final next week.
