Costel Pantilimon - 7
Very solid display from the Romanian. Little he could do about the goal and helped his defenders immeasurably with high balls into the box.
Santiago Vergini - 6
Caught out once of twice, pace wise, but he quite often is. Did okay in general, though. That said, you do feel the side is starting to suffer for a lack of natural dynamisn down the flanks in the absence of Billy Jones and Patrick van Aanholt.
Wes Brown - 7
Gave away one or two bad free kicks but he was generally in fine form against an awkward attack.
John O'Shea - 7
Not quite as good as Brown on the day, but only a slither or so behind.
Anthony Reveillere - 6
Distributed the ball pretty well but offered little going forward. In general, see Vergini.
Lee Cattermole - 8
Very good indeed. Got the ball out wide well and competed with a very strong West Ham midfield brilliantly. Unlucky not to be man of the match.
Seb Larsson - 9
Man of the match.
Jordi Gomez - 7
Put the penalty away with some real class and was involved without being especially prominent.
Adam Johnson - 7
'Won' the penalty though on any other day could have been booked for it. Did well in general. Bit Gomez-y.
Connor Wickham - 7
Looked far happier when Steven Fletcher came on, which is testament to the partnership they have developed. Unfortunate not to rattle home the winner.
Jozy Altidore - 4
I've decided to give him a mark for every yard he was away from goal when he missed that sitter. I'm probably rounding up a bit too. I have no capacity to process it any other way.
Ricky Alvarez (Sub) - 7
Really classy footballer. Please start starting him, Gus!
Steven Fletcher (Sub) - 6
Did fine, and brought a little extra from Wickham.
Man Of The Match: Seb Larsson
All-action, all-running, powerhouse of a performance from the Swede, who is just going from strength to strength now in the middle of the park. His reinvention has been amazing.
