Gus Poyet makes one change to the team that earned a nil-nil draw at Anfield last week, with Lee Cattermole replacing Liam Bridcutt. That means Jozy Altidore retains his place up front, with Steven Fletcher once again on the bench. Sebastian Coates returns after being ineligible to face his parent club Liverpool last week and takes the place of Tom Robson on the substitutes bench.

Sunderland (4-3-3): Costel Pantilimon; Santiago Vergini, John O'Shea, Wes Brown, Anthony Reveillere; Seb Larsson, Lee Cattermole, Jordi Gomez; Adam Johnson, Jozy Altidore, Connor Wickham.

Subs: Vito Mannone, Sebastian Coates, Liam Bridcutt, Jack Rodwell, Will Buckley, Ricky Alvarez, Steven Fletcher.

West Ham also make just the one change, with Sam Allardyce choosing to replace Enner Valencia with their top scorer Diafra Sakho.

West Ham United (4-1-2-1-2): Adrian; Carl Jenkinson, Winston Reid, James Tomkins, Aaron Cresswell; Alexander Song; Cheikhou Kouyate, Kevin Nolan; Stewart Downing; Andy Carroll, Diafra Sakho.
