Sunderland 1- 1 Everton: Player Ratings

Sunderland and Everton played out a 1-1 draw here’s how the Black Cats played

Gareth Copley

Costel Pantilimon – 6

Pantilimon didn’t have a great deal to do and he would be disappointed not to have saved Baines’ penalty as it went under his body.

Santiago Vergini – 7

Santi looked assured on the ball and in defence as baines didn’t have a lot of success down the wing against him. Not too much in attack from Vergini, but against Everton you need to combat against Baines and he did that well.

Anthony Reveillere- 7

Anthony did well against the threat of McGeady and Coleman but the same as Vergini he didn’t do a great deal going forward. The penalty incident was down Anthony’s side but Coleman was Wickham’s man.

John O’Shea – 7

Marshalled the defence well, Lukaku didn’t have a lot of chances apart from one shot against the post so overall O’Shea did a good job.

Wes Brown – 7

Good quiet game for Wes. He broke up play around the edge of the box and didn’t commit any errors.

Liam Bridcutt – 7

Liam did a great job filling in for Cattermole. He lacks the intensity of Lee but Liam controlled the midfield well and denied Barkley with a last ditch tackle in the first half. His only blemish was leaving a back pass short which nearly let Everton in but his work rate and effort was spot on.

Jordi Gomez – 7

Jordi did well in attack by sliding a few passes in behind the Everton defence. He did his duties going back as well, overall a solid outing for Gomez

Seb Larrson – 8

Finally Seb scores a free kick (We've been waiting a while) His work rate was fantastic, he had a couple of shots blocked and he set up Gomez for his chance in the first half. Great game from Seb

Adam Johnson -6

Adam was a bit below par today. After being left out on Monday night I thought he might try to run the show today but unfortunately he didn’t create a lot. However Adam did well defensively and didn't do a lot wrong.

Connor Wickham -5

Connor was great for the first half hour as he had a couple of headed chances. But as the game wore on he didn’t hold the ball up well enough and he gave away the penalty after we’d played so well to get the lead.

Steven Fletcher – 7

Fletcher looked bright and energetic. He dropped deep to get the ball and linked up play well. He was in the six yard box for most crosses so all in all a decent game from Steven.

Will Buckley – 7

Buckley did more in 30 minutes than Johnson did in an hour. He added pace to the game late on and looked dangerous. He made Everton sit back when they looked to be getting on the front foot.

Jack Rodwell – 6

Only had 10 minutes so not really enough time to make a real impact. But Jack was solid in midfield.

Man Of The Match: Seb Larsson

Seb gets Man of the match mainly for his goal but his overall commitment and work rate was 100% and I’m glad he got rewarded with a goal after his efforts today.
