Sunderland Echo
Sunderland haven't contacted anyone in relation to Portuguese winger Bruma for almost a year, according to the player's representative.
Reports in Turkey last week suggested the Black Cats were back in for a player they tried to sign last January, but Bruma's agent says there's been no discussions since that initial enquiry during the winter window.
Jack Rodwell will be given a chance to reclaim his spot in the side over the next three games having fallen out of favour in recent weeks.
The former Everton midfielder has struggled to find his form following a £10million move during the summer, but will have an opportunity to prove he's now up to speed at some stage when Gus Poyet's men face Chelsea, Manchester City and Liverpool during an eight-day period.
Chronicle
Connor Wickham believes Sunderland have nothing to fear when looking ahead to the daunting prospect of facing three Premier League big-hitters in quick succession.
Seemingly having recovered from the setbacks of defeat to Southampton and Arsenal, forward Wickham thinks the Black Cats can do something remarkable again, just as they did towards the end of last season when earning points from tough fixtures against Manchester City, Chelsea and Manchester United to effect the 'Great Escape' from relegation.
