Southampton vs Sunderland: Confirmed Line-ups

The teams are in for the Premier League clash, with few surprises.

Nigel Roddis

Gus Poyet resisted the urge to make changes from the team that delivered the first win of the season for the trip to Southampton.

That means that Jordi Gomez continues to keep Jack Rodwell out of the side, whilst Connor Wickham and Steven Fletcher have the chance to continue the partnership, admittedly with the former playing from the left flank.

Billy Jones' injury meant a return for Wes Brown, with Satiago Vergini moving to right back. Cabral was named on the bench, who is a new name to us. Honest. Probably a kid or something. Good luck to him.

Sunderland: (4-3-3): Mannone, Vergini, van Aanholt, O'Shea (c), Brown, Cattermole, Larsson, Gomez, Buckley, Wickham, Fletcher.

Subs: Pantilimon, Bridcutt, Rodwell, Johnson, Cabral, Mavrias, Graham.

Southampton, meanwhile, drafted in Shane Long for Sadio Mané, who is rested after playing for Senegal in the week. Former Sunderland.. .errr.... something or other.... Kelvin Davis was on the bench.

Southampton (4-3-3): Forster, Clyne, Fonte (c), Alderweireld, Bertrand, Cork, Schneiderlin, S. Davis, Tadić, Long, Pellè.

Subs: K. Davis, Yoshida, Gardos, Mané, Wanyama, Mayuka, Reed.
