Sunderland Defender Linked With Benfica Switch

Ondrej Celustka has been mooted as a possible makeweight in a deal to take Oscar Cardozo to Trabzonspor.

Trabzonspor are attempting to sign Paraguayan striker Oscar Cardozo and according to Portuguese newspaper O Jogo the player has agreed terms with the Turkish side but the two clubs are yet to agree a fee.

Which is where our own Ondrej Celustka comes in. As, according to reports in Turkey, he has been mooted as a possible makeweight in an attempt for the clubs to finally agree terms.

Celustka has been a solid, if unspectacular, loan signing from Trabzonspor. Coming in at the beginning of the season after the failure to sign Gino Peruzzi and Luis Pedro Cavanda, he initially impressed before fading of late. Although still playing regularly at the moment, the arrival of Marcos Alonso will likely push Bardsley over to right back on a regular basis, which could see Celustka relegated to the bench.

Although he has been a reliable member of the squad this season, a possible departure may actually be of good news to Gus Poyet as he looks to move players on in an attempt to revamp the squad before the window slams shut.
