Nacho Scocco today completed his protracted move to Sunderland, the striker has signed a two-and-a-half year contract for a fee in the region of £4m.

After completing his move Scocco spoke to TyC Sports about his move to Sunderland and said the chance to play in the Premier League and under Gus Poyet were key factors in his move;

This is one the best leagues in the world and I think Gus Poyet's idea of football and his project are very interesting.

Everybody here at Sunderland welcomed me very nicely. I had my first training session this morning.

I've watched Sunderland against Stoke yesterday and I liked what I saw, especially in the first half. I'll have to prove my worth.

My level of English is basic. I'll have a teacher to help me. I've got basic knowledge and that will help me settle.

I'm looking for a home now. I have spoken to my fellow Argentine team-mates and I'm looking forward to get things going.

The 28-year-old also expressed his thanks to the board of his former club Internacional for helping to push through the move;

I am grateful to Inter and the directors who understood that this was the best move for all.

Should he receive international clearance in time, Scocco will be in line to make his debut in the derby against Newcastle United on Saturday.
