Vito Mannone claims he is living a 'dream' at the moment, and has vowed to do all he can to ensure 'incredible' Sunderland fans get a piece of it.
The Italian put in another top class performance as Gus Poyet's men climbed out of the relegation zone against Stoke, standing like a furrowed browed Adonis; a colossal barrier stood between Sunderland and disaster with smoldering incandescence. Yeah, well, okay... bit of a man-crush going on here but it's his fault for being so Mannone-esque.
Anyway I digress. He told the Sunderland Echo:
It's something unbelievable, it's like a dream.
I suffered a lot in the past (at Arsenal) if I'm honest.
I expected my chance for a long time there, but they never really gave me a real chance.
Finally, I got it at Sunderland and I don't want to waste a minute.
I'm loving every minute of every game and, when I can perform, I will do my best to help the team and to give something back to the fans, who have been incredible.
It's great to hear them singing my name.
What more is the to be said about Don Vito? He is our signing of the season, probably our player of the season so far, and seems to be a top bloke to boot.
No one is talking about Simon Mignolet anymore, are they? What a guy.
