Sunderland are looking to be busy in the transfer market before Friday's deadline day. With Nacho Scocco close to completing his move and Gus Poyet also interested in signing Ever Banega, Liam Bridcutt, Tom Ince and Will Buckley, there may be departures to make room in the squad and on the wage bill.

According to reports yesterday, Stoke City would be interested in signing both Lee Cattermole and Steven Fletcher in a deal worth £10m. Cattermole has regained his place in the side under Poyet but has been able to find consistent form and Fletcher has rarely captured the heights of last season, with only 1 goal in his last 15 appearances in all competitions.

Although £10m is unlikely to be enough to sign both players, it would not be a surprise if we allowed both to leave if it meant Poyet could sign the players he wants but despite being close to signing Scocco and the club recalling Connor Wickham yesterday, it's unlikely we would sanction the sale of Fletcher unless we were to sign another striker besides the Argentinian.

Cattermole recently admitted that he is desperate to stay at the club but may be forced out of the side if Sunderland are able to clinch the signing of both Bridcutt and Banega.
