Report: Striker Deal To Be Completed This Week

Nacho Scocco's move to Sunderland is expected to be completed later in the week, when the player and his agent travel to England.

After it emerged yesterday that Nacho Scocco was set to sign for Sunderland, with Sunderland paying around £4m for the 28-year-old striker (with £1.5m going to his former club Newell's to cover Internacional's debt relating to his summer transfer to the Brazilian club, and Inter receiving £2.5m to be paid in installments), it looks as if the Argentine international's move to Wearside will be wrapped up in midweek.

According to reports out of Argentina, Scocco will sign a two-and-a-half-year contract with Gus Poyet's side and will travel to the North East with his agent, Fabian Soldini, on Wednesday and should be training with his new teammates by Thursday.

The deal is not yet complete according to his agent, despite Internacional accepting Sunderland's offer, as they are still awaiting some formalities to be completed;

The offer submitted was accepted by Inter, the transfer is not yet complete as it is necessary to see the guarantees and payment methods but it is at about 80%.

Should Scocco complete his move by Thursday, he should be eligible to make his debut in the Tyne-Wear derby at the weekend.
