In Pictures: Sunderland's Semi Final Drama

Sunderland beat Manchester United at Old Trafford to book a trip to Wembley. Take a look at the best snaps of the night.

Where on earth do you begin?!

Sunderland's League Cup semi final win against Manchester United was as incredible as they come. True, there wasn't loads of quality in the game and technically - TECHNICALLY - Sunderland lost the game. The tie was won, however, and won with a real sense for the dramatic.

It was typical Sunderland really, wasn't it. Won it once (Bardsley's goal) threw it away. Won it again (Johnson penalty to win it), threw it away. In the end it took a save from Vito Mannone from Manchester United's final penalty in the shoot-out to earn Sunderland the Wembley soil. Sunderland's propensity to do it the hard way is why we love them.

But who cares about the details anyway!

We just want to savour it, and relive it, and with that in mind we have delved into our images to make a gallery of the best snaps of the the night. It's a genuine treat. We hope you enjoy it.
