Report: Sunderland Striker Bid Snubbed

Sunderland have reportedly been frustrated in their attempts to sign an Argentine striker.

Sunderland have been repeatedly linked with one Argentine striker this month, in the form of Internacional's Ignacio Scocco, and with that transfer saga rumbling on it appears their attempts to sign another striker from Argentina has been unsuccessful.

Tuttomercatoweb claim that Sunderland have been in contact with Independiente in the hopes of signing thier 28-year-old striker Facundo Parra. According to the report Gus Poyet had spoken personally with Parra but was unable to convince his club to sell. With the player out of the contract in the summer, a renewed effort to sign the player can not be ruled out.

Parra has scored 5 goals in 16 games for Independiente this season but has previously had a couple of spells in Europe, with Larissa of Greece and in Italy with Atalanta, and both times he struggled to make an impact.
