Goalkeeper Brushes Off Transfer Speculation

Vito Mannone has dismissed rumours linking him with a move to Manchester United.

Although he started the season on the bench after signing from Arsenal, Vito Mannone has impressed for Sunderland since he broke into the first team, so much so that he was recently linked with a move to Manchester United.

However in an interview, Mannone distanced himself from such speculation and explained how much he is loving life at Sunderland;

I don't really care about this stuff.

It's stuff that happens outside of the football pitch. My concentration is on the football pitch and it was on this game.

Now we have got another massive game. I am really living my best time right now at Sunderland and I don't see why I would move right now.

I want to stay as first choice and I want my performances to improve. That's the only aim I have, apart from aiming to beat Manchester United.

That's the only focus I have on Manchester United.

Although it always seemed unlikely that the 25-year-old would move to Manchester United to be second choice goalkeeper so soon after leaving Arsenal, it's good to hear from the player himself that he is more than happy to stay at the club.
