Sunderland's search for a new striker has been well documented this month and while most of the talk has been about Internacional's Nacho Scocco, today the club have been linked with Rolando Bianchi.

According to the Gazzetta dello Sport, Sunderland, West Bromwich Albion and Leicester City have all shown interest in signing the 30-year-old, although it's believed the player would prefer to remain in Italy, where both Atalanta and Sampdoria are tracking the player.

Bianchi only signed for Bologna in the summer from Torino but has only been able to score 1 goal in 16 games, a stark contrast to his time at Torino, where he scored 71 times in 169 games, a tally which put him in the top ten all-time goalscorers for the Turin based club. The player also had a brief, unsuccessful spell with Manchester City in the 2007/08 season.

Meanwhile, after Dundee scout Archie Knox was spotted at Sunderland's u21 game against Stoke on Monday, David Moberg Karlsson and George Honeyman were both linked with a move to Dens Park on loan.

However Dundee manager John Brown has ruled out the possibility of signing either player, although did admit that they were a possibility at one point;

Archie Knox was down at Sunderland watching a game they were playing in and that's where this talk has come from.

But so were managers and scouts from most of the clubs in Scotland. Their names were in the hat for a time but it is not something that's going to happen.

It's thought that the lack of first team experience for both players is too much of a risk for the Scottish side.
