Sunderland midfielder Craig Gardner could soon be on his way out of the club according to reports.
The Daily Mirror and the usually reliable James Nursey are reporting the beleaguered former-Birmingham City man is a January target for West Bromwich Albion.
It is probably news that will prompt more offers to drive him down to the Midlands than tears of sadness on Wearside, but it's been pretty evident that something has looked a little off with Gardner for quite a while now.
We are not exactly his biggest fans on the best of days, so the bar we set for him is pretty low anyway and he has even managed to fall drastically short of those lowly standards this season.
He is out of contract in the summer anyway, so whatever happens this month his Sunderland career must surely be in its final stages now. Would you offer him a new contract? No, didn't think so.
Being able to find a buyer sooner rather than later though could relieve us of a big and burdening contract and help Gus Poyet's own January transfer business, so fingers very much crossed that this happens.
