Coentrao's Stay Could Aid Move For Siqueira

Reports emerged last night of Sunderland being linked with a move for Granada defender Guilherme Siqueira, although it was also speculated that we'd have hefty competition for the 27-year old's signature from Liverpool and Real Madrid.

Any move to the famous Spanish side were hinged however upon Fabio Coentrao going somewhere else, and following their 3-1 win over Athletic Bilbao on Sunday, Carlo Ancelotti said there there is now no chance of the Portuguese defender leaving;

Fabio is staying. I understood that he wanted to go, but really it was not the same desire for everyone. Now he's decided to stay and everybody, the club, players and coaching staff, are happy with this decision.

Siqueira is seemingly surplus to requirements at Granada, and a fee of around £3m could see a deal done for the left-back. This season he's not featured in their first three games, and barely featured during the preseason as he was hawked around clubs.

He'll also be well known to Roberto De Fanti and Valentino Angeloni, who signed him for Udinese before he was farmed out to feeder club Granada.

Siqueira also fits the bill as an attacking left-back too, having managed to hit 17 goals in 70 games for the side.

Any move certainly ticks all the boxes, but obviously that's exactly a reason why such a move might end up unlikely and it's merely journalists finding someone who hits all the requirements.
