De Ceglie's Agent On Sunderland Interest

Carlo Pallavicino plays down reports that his client is close to a move to the Stadium of Light.

With Sunderland's need for a left back being well documented, there has been a lot of speculation linking Sunderland with Paolo De Ceglie of Juventus, with reports yesterday suggesting the club had sent a delegation to Italy in an attempt to push the transfer through.

However, in an interview with fantagazzetta, De Ceglie's agent, Carlo Pallavicino, has denied that talks have taken place between Sunderland and De Ceglie and says the player is happy at Juventus;

There is no negotiation between my client and Sunderland.

There is nothing to confirm.

Paolo is very happy to be at Juventus. He thinks of nothing else, the rest is just talk.

While this doesn't mean Sunderland are not in talks with Juventus over the left back, it does suggest that any deal for the defender is still some way off and it seems as if the player will take some convincing to switch the Juventus Stadium for the Stadium of Light.

In the meantime, Sunderland look to be lining up a Ligue 1 player as an alternative to De Ceglie.
