After a back and forth this summer with Panathanikos for highly-thought-of winger Charis Mavrias, a deal has finally been concluded which will see him spend his foreseeable future on Wearside.
The 19-year-old has signed a 4-year deal at the Stadium of Light, with a fee estimated to be around £2m, The latest reports from Greece indicated there will be a small payment up front, and further add-ons which will make up the remainder of the price. It's also reported that there is a sell-on clause of around 5%.
Sunderland have done well to in effect exploit the turmoil at Panathanikos in recent years which has seen the club run into bankruptcy and forced to sell in order to stay alive.
Mavrias has been a good player for Pana, racking up 51 appearances since making his debut aged just 16, and has also progressed through the ranks of the Greek national side where he has picked up two caps.
We've got some expert analysis on the signing from Greek football expert Chris Parasevkas HERE if you want to know more about the new-boy, is available for this weekends game against Southampton, although temper expectations as he has been out for a number of months with an illness, and hasn't had much of a preseason with Pana.
Mavrias will wear number 35.
