Recently it came to light that there might be some interest from Sunderland in making a move for Juventus winger Emanuele Giaccherini. Reports, which even we labelled as "fanciful" have proved to be just that as we can put this particular rumour to bed.
Furio Valcareggi late last night told how Sunderland are a team who have made an enquiry for his client's services;
Sure, Sunderland do like him, but Antonio Conte - who is a great coach - does not even want to talk about selling Giaccherini. He is unsellable.
Which is one thing certainly, but of course money can change things, and with Giaccherini having very little of his contract remaining and reportedly quite low wages, could Sunderland tempt the Italian international at all? Valcareggi went on to further explain;
Absolutely not. Giaccherini is fine at Juventus. He still feels he has the confidence of the whole club and still wants to win so much.
So there we have it. What we first told you was a fanciful and speculative link to the player has proven to be just that. Sometimes things are just too good to be true.
The only perhaps interesting bit here is that he's a high calibre player, and among all the relative unknowns and one's for the future, it's good to see that the club are actively seeking players first-team ready too.
