Club Confirms Danish Friendly

Sunderland confirm they will travel to Denmark to take on FC Midtjylland on the 7th August.

Supporters concerned about the lack of pre-season friendlies can alleviate their fears slightly after the club confirmed they will travel to play consonant loving Danish side FC Midtjylland next week. The announcement has been expected ever since our opposition prematurely announced the fixture on their website two days ago; a story that was subsequently deleted. However both clubs have now confirmed the friendly will go ahead on Wednesday 7th August at 6PM (local Danish time) at the MCH Arena in Herning.

Unlike other Scandinavian leagues, the Danish Superliga does not take place during the summer months, so Midtjylland are also in the middle of their pre-season plans. 'Ulvene' or 'The Wolves', who are a relatively new club, having only been formed in 1999 following a merger between two smaller outfits, finished 6th in last years Superliga. Our senior badge correspondent, David Boyle, has yet to confirm what the Danish sides' badge resembles.

No doubt Sunderland fans will be pleased to get another chance to see their team in action before the new Premier League campaign begins properly, with the clubs only official pre-season fixtures so far coming in the Asia Cup Trophy matches against Tottenham and Manchester City.
