According to Velez Sarsfield's official website, Argentine international fullback Gino Peruzzi will complete a move to Sunderland in the very near future.
Misleading reports circulated last night that the deal was 'off' on account of an agent wanting a bit more from the deal. This seems to have been very far from the truth as the club today confirmed that he is leaving;
Velez Sarsfield and Sunderland Association Football Club have reached an agreement to transfer the player Gino Peruzzi.
Peruzzi, who holds an Italian passport should finalise a move before the weekend with reports claiming the figure to be in the region of £3-5m for the 4-time capped International.
Despite the passport, the club will still have to wait for all documentation to be passed from the Argentine FA to the English equivalent, although there's nothing to stop him playing for Sunderland and training with them in Italy if everything is agreeable between the two clubs.
The capture of Peruzzi would be a huge coup for Sunderland, with the player previously linked to both Inter Milan and Manchester City in recent months.
