Reports: Di Canio Deal Not Interim, Could Be Done Tonight

After what you could deem as a quiet spell today for an hour or two it appears things are moving at pace on the deal to bring Paolo Di Canio to the club.

Big money came in this morning for Di Canio with the betting eventually suspended as Sky Sports announced that he was on his way to Wearside to discuss a deal.

Now as evening draws upon us, friend of Roker Report and a man very reliable on this sort of thing, George Caulkin from The Times newspaper, has put forward some significant information on Twitter;

It's interesting that Di Canio is seen as a long-term answer by Ellis Short and not just a man who will give a short-term kick up the backside to the current crop of underperforming players at his disposal.

I wouldn't be surprised at all to see this done and dusted tonight with more emerging in the morning. The length of the contract could make for very, very interesting reading though given Martin O'Neill was sacked last night, just 16 months into a 36-month contract.
