Having recently been told he has no future on Wearside, young midfielder Adam Reed has headed out on another loan deal, this time with League Two side York City.
To be honest, I had no idea Football League clubs could still sign people on loan but it appears to have happened and it provides a good opportunity for Reed to put himself in the shop window for the summer when he will become a free agent.
Reed has had plenty of loan spells including stints at Brentford, Bradford City, Leyton Orient most recently Portsmouth but has been unable to make a breakthrough to the first team with the closest he came being an unused substitute once in a cup game at Middlesbrough.
He along with several other players will be looking to use the loan market to ensure he has a footballing future. Reed certainly has that, it's just not at Premier League level it seems. We wish him well though at York.
