Scots Duo Lead Raft Of International Call Ups

Steven Fletcher and Phil Bardsley lead a host of international call ups for Sunderland players this week.

Stu Forster

Phil Bardsley has been recalled to the Scotland squad to face Estonia in the coming week. Bardsley missed out through injury in the final days of Craig Levein's reign as manager and whilst he's been performing well below his best in a Sunderland shirt of late, Strachan is keen to explore opportunities.

Steven Fletcher is also included in Strachan's first squad and is likely to lead the line for them.

Connor Wickham has been called into a strong England Under-21 squad to face Sweden at Walsall's ground this midweek, but injury victim Danny Rose misses out with the game coming far too soon for the impressive defender.

Seb Larsson also get's a call up for a very tough fixture in Solna against Argentina. The Argentines have named a full strength squad so it will be interesting to see Seb pit his wits against the likes of Leo Messi and Angel Di Maria.

Jordan Pickford will be part of the England Under-19 squad as they face Denmark at Doncaster's Keepmoat stadium this midweek too.

In other goalkeeping news Simon Mignolet is in the Belgium squad to face Slovakia next week too, although will in all likelihood be backing up Thibault Courtois once again.

As we already reported last week, John O'Shea, James McClean and Keiren Westwood are all in the Ireland squad for their midweek international too against Poland.
