David Vaughan has joined promotion-chasing Championship outfit Nottingham Forest on a three month loan deal.
The Midlands side are currently in the playoff places, and will be looking to rise further up into the automatic slots having acquired the 30-year old on loan.
Vaughan has been surplus to requirements on Wearside for some time now, and has been even further pushed back with Andrea Dossena's return to fitness allowing Jack Colback to take up a more natural role in the middle of midfield. Also, he was never really all that good. You can only dine out on that goal against Newcastle for so long.
Vaughan will remain at the Championship club until January 29th 2014 at the very least, where he will link up with former Sunderland old boys Greg Halford, Danny Collins and Andy Reid.
The move should also help him find a permanent home away from the club, as it's unlikely he has much of a future at the Stadium Of Light.
