Sunderland look on the verge of 'finalizing' a move for Anderlecht defender Roland Juhasz.
The 29-year-old Hungarian stopper has been linked with a move to Wearside for a few days now, with the player himself insisting he will be on the move, but it seems negotiations may be drawing to a successful conclusion.
Reports in Belgium suggest that those talks are at 'a very advanced stage' with Sunderland primed to meet with the player next week to 'finalize the transfer'.
It must be stressed that we always have to approach such stories with a degree of caution. The foreign press can be as unreliable as sections of our own so it certainly shouldn't be regarded as set in stone.
There is, however, a significant amount of smoke building with this one now. The mainstream press on both sides of the story are reporting the link and the player himself and his agent have been very vocal over it, with the player himself telling the Hungarian Press:
"I want to stay in Western Europe, so it is only natural that Sunderland and the Premier League are incredibly attractive."
We can't say we know too much about him, really, but after watching the defensive horror shows lately for Sunderland, there is no reason to suspect there is anything to lose by bringing in an experienced reinforcement at a knockdown price.
We'll keep an eye on it for any further developments.
