Another move which has been ramping up in intensity of late is that Nigerian international midfielder Joel Obi could be on his way to Sunderland on loan from Inter Milan. That looks set to be dead before we've even had a chance to get excited over it.
The exciting but injury-plagued star's agent told Sky Tyne & Wear earlier;
It will be very difficult this winter for him to go to England or any club because right now he is a very important player for Inter.
In the future Obi wishes for the possibility to move to the Premier League but not at the moment.
Now this really is just he most polite way of saying "no, not interested". Obi has been far from an important player at the San Siro this season having been injured for most the season, and now he's recovered he's hardly been involved either, making just one Serie A appearance and one Europa League appearance. He's also only been an unused substitute on three occasions.
This is the transfer window and anything and anyone will be linked. An injury-ridden 20-year old with little first team action overseas seems far from a prototypical O'Neill signing. You win some, you lose some. Although I'm reluctant to say we really 'lost' here. Either way, it's one to chalk off everyone's list.
