Roker Riches: Money To Be Made At The Madjeski

Our newly bolstered tipster team turn their attentions to the weekend's action as Sunderland travel to Reading and the rest of the footballing action this weekend...

Week Twenty-Four Recap

Pundit Last Week's Profit/Loss Current Balance
Karl Jones -£7.00 £32
Simon Walsh -£4.00 £12.00
Craig Clark -£6.00 £4.00
Luke Bowley -£8.00 £2.00
David Boyle £2.05 -£2.20
Dan Williams N/A -£4.00
Chris Weatherspoon N/A -£19.50

Not the best of starts for newcomers Craig and Luke with picks of Steven Fletcher anytime goalscorer paired with a Sunderland win and over 2.5 goals respectively. Then again it wasn't as if the rest of us faired much better as I clawed back just a couple of quid with my under 2.5 goals selection - the old favourite came good again, should have went bigger with that bet... anyway, onto this weekend's selections:

David Boyle

Having a quick glance over the coupon for this weekend's fixture and there was one standout pick for me, Adam Le Fondre anytime goalscorer which is available at a very generous 15/8, I simply couldn't ignore those odds!

Elsewhere I am going to keep things really simple and avoid picking a quad, treble or even a double as there was one fixture which really stood out for me, Wigan vs Southampton. The Saints are currently available at 14/5, which I feel is too good to ignore and is definitely worth a couple of quid.

  • Adam Le Fondre anytime goalscorer - 15/8 - £2.50 Stake
  • Southampton to win - 14/5 - £2.50 Stake

Simon Walsh

Looking at the game in general I think it will be close, but tipped in our favour. As I will tell you on tomorrow's podcast, I think O'Neill has a plan for this one and a sneaky 1-0 win is in the offing. With that in mind I'll happily take the odds of 10/1 on that result.

Elsewhere in the world I'm putting a little accumulator, for no apparent reason, on this little lot to win - Hoffenheim, Crewe and Swansea.

  • Sunderland to win 1-0 - 10/1 - £2 Stake
  • Hoffenheim, Crewe and Swansea all to win - 17/1 - £2 Stake

Craig Clark

We're in the midst of a decent run of form and tend to do well against the bottom ten, only losing against Norwich and Villa of those currently making up the lower half of the table. Reading find themselves above us in the form table and will be buoyed by another excellent comeback, this time at home to an out of sorts Chelsea. I'm hoping we continue our unbeaten league run and think we can pick up a draw so I'm going for 2-2 at 11/1.

For my other bet I'm going for over 2.5 goals in the matches for Schalke and Newcastle, as well as under 2.5 goals in the Wolfsburg against Augsburg and QPR against Norwich.

  • Sunderland to draw 2-2 with Reading - 11/1 - £1 Stake
  • Over 2.5 goals (Schalke, Newcastle) Under 2.5 goals (Wolfsburg and QPR) - 9/1 - £2 Stake

Karl Jones

Both teams go into the game on the back of a draw - with Reading's fightback against Chelsea the more eye-catching of the two to say the least. Sunderland have won two of their last three on the road, against teams of a similar calibre to their hosts, and are a decent price to come up trumps against the Royals.

Elsewhere, I'm looking for goals, from two trusted sources. Palace are the joint-highest scorers at home in the Championship whilst Charlton have been involved in some thrillers - most notably their 5-4 win over Cardiff City. And in Italy, third-placed Lazio slipped up last weekend against Chievo but should have enough to overcome third-bottom Genoa.

  • Sunderland to beat Reading - 15/8 - £5 Stake
  • Crystal Palace/Charlton Over 2.5 goals and Lazio to win - 4.3/1 - £5 Stake

Luke Bowley

After a debut Roker Riches performance that even Jonathan Woodgate looked at with shame, this week's all about clawing back some credibility. Reading are starting to show some fight in the league, with excellent comebacks against West Brom, Newcastle and Chelsea. That said, I still don't think they have a great deal of quality, and we should have enough to come back with all 3 points.

Inter Milan have been on a poor run of form, but they're at startlingly good odds to beat bottom of the table Siena on Sunday. I'll take that as a part of double also seeing Dortmund win at Leverkusen. The home side are playing well at the moment, and are holding onto second place, but Dortmund will be looking to get a run of form going ahead of the next part of their Champions League campaign, so I think they'll get the win.

  • Sunderland to beat Reading - 15/8 - £3 Stake
  • Inter Milan to beat Siena/Borussia Dortmund to beat Bayer Leverkusen - 9/1 - £3 Stake
